You need to have reserves in the body, as the occurrence of additional (enhanced) physiological needs during pregnancy. The purpose of the study is to analyze the results of epidemiological studies of nutrition conducted among 202 women of childbearing age from Sofia to assess the risk of iron deficiency, nutritional and related iron-deficiency state. Was used a questionnaire, documentary and statistical methods. The results show that the average daily intake of iron in women before childbearing and of childbearing age is of 13.26 mg, i.e. - 72% of the recommended dose (18 mg), and 50% of employed and 32% of students don´t eat right, consuming food with a low iron content. The level of hemoglobin in the blood, the average for the group were 13.09 ± 1.00 g/DL. Among the employed it is of 12.86 g/DL, and among students of 13.36 g/DL (at the lowest dose, according to who, 12 g/DL). While 11.9% of women hemoglobin level below the reference value - in 17.8 % of workers and 5.9% of students (p<0,009) and in all women, the level of hemoglobin varies in the range 100-120 g /l.
